STAGE ONE NATIONAL DANCE COMPETITION

GATLINBURG, TENNESSEE

JUNE 24-27, 2010

JOYCE DALTON BATON & DANCE STUDIO from CENTERVILLE brought home many "1st and 2nd Over-all Awards" along with Platinum & High Gold awards from Stage One National Competition in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in late June. The Dynamite Gals and Guys competed in Production, Large Groups, Small Groups, Duet/Trio's, and Solo's. We brought home 15 Platinum and 15 High Gold Awards along with "8"-1st Over-all, "5"-2nd Over-all, and "12"-4th to 10th Place Over-all's! We also received "9" Special Awards: "3"-Choreography; "3"-Precision; "2"-Showmanship; "1"-Technique. What a Great Week we had!! Super Performances and a Great Time for Everyone! A Great Close to the Competition Season!

Their award winning Production "Doctor Doctor" brought home - Platinum in the Junior Division and 1st Over-All Junior Productions. Main Choreographer was Kelly Daugherty with help from Joyce and Teri.

Joyce would like to state that at this Stage One Nationals they gave a lot of "Golds" which I feel should be to separate the level of the dancer! We were lucky and excited to receive all of our Platinum's and High Gold's! A lot of very talented dancers made it a very tough national competition and the judges were tough also which should be, especially on the National Level!

Three of our routines made it to the Best of the Best Shoot-out on Sunday. They were:

"Doctor Doctor" - All Junior Groups & Lines (Production)

"Do Not Pass Me By" - All Senior Groups & Lines

"Hang On Sloopy" - All Petite Groups & Lines - Placed 2nd out of 10 that were in "Best of Best"

 

All routines competed again on Sunday for the top three of each division! Each studio can only be represented one time in each division unless they have a group with a high enough score and the group is all different dancers. Duet/Trio's and Solo's are not in the Best of the Best! All three of our acts did "Really Super Performances" on Sunday!!! We were ever so proud to be up on that stage on Sunday with the very "Best of the Best" of the entire National Competition which was over 200 Groups, Lines, Productions (NOT even counting duet/trio's or solo's)! WOW! How exciting it was and a Proud Proud Day!!!

We also had our Awards Pizza Party while in Gatlinburg on Saturday night with a lot of celebration!!! We filled our Awards Tables with Trophies and Plaques! I gave special awards to each member: Their Yearly Star for their jackets - Special Certificates - Yearly Award which this year consisted of Headbands for the Gals and Ball Caps for the Guys! A Great and Fun Night!

Instructors/Choreographers for the Dynamite Gals & Guys Competition Team are: Joyce Dalton, Kelly Daugherty, and Teri Parks. Additional Instructors at the studio for 2010 were Vicki Daugherty (Baton), Jen Peterman (Flag & Rifle), Linda Coombe (Dance).
